Roses are red
Violets are blue
April was awesome
All because of you!
April was National Poetry Month and here a the Ashley Library we have had a blast exploring 5 different poetry stations!
Kinder through 2nd grade has rotated around to learn about and create their own poetry this month. They have explored different kinds of poetry and posted about it on the dry erase "notice" board, created their own poems with words provided, and used book spines to form some pretty crazy mixed up poems!
My favorite stations were the partner reading and the black out poetry! At partner reading I heard the best thing in the world - giggles. They were running over every five minutes to share with me a new poem that had crossed the page or to ask why Runny Babbit was written in such a funny way! It was a blast!
Black out poetry made them feel like such book bandits. They used pages from weeded books to create poems. They had to search for the best words that could form and idea or thought, circle it, and cross out the rest! It was so fun seeing them work with their favorite titles to create something original!
Well...take a look yourself!
