First and Second Graders are embarking on a grand project this week! We are bringing out our inner problem solver, designer, engineer, and innovator to learn about Design Thinking and use that method of thinking to solve real world problems!
Last week, classes read the true story of Isatou Ceesay. She found a recycling/repurposing solution to a large trash problem in the book One Plastic Bag by Miranda Paul. Now, we are learning about Design Thinking and how this process helps innovative people to find creative and unique solutions to big problems.
Students are now brainstorming how they would have solved Isatou's problem and will work through the next few weeks to create a prototype of their idea to test! I will keep you updated in the coming weeks so keep checking here and my Twitter page for updates and pictures!
